The Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has admonished Members of Parliament from the region to focus on the development of the region.
The King expressed discontent at the heightened hypocrisy of the MPs who he described as being overly concerned with issues of ‘Accra’ at the expense of the Ashanti region’s progress and development.
Otumfuo made this admonition in his address at the official launch of the Asantehene’s fundraising campaign in aid of the comprehensive renovation of KATH Old Blocks as part of the legacy projects to mark the 25th anniversary of the King’s enstoolment next year.
His Royal Majesty noted “Members of Parliament from the Ashanti region here should pay attention to the region.
You are becoming too engulfed with Accra issues. Stop the hypocrisy and pay attention to Ashanti region’s development.” Otumfuo stressed.
Background
His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on November 10, 2023, officially launched the $10Million mobilization drive to renovate Komfo Anokye.
The project has been dubbed ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’. It focuses on refurbishing the 70-year old facility to a befitting modern hospital.
The program was held at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Sword site.
