After taking time away from music to focus on completing her education, Ghanaian artiste and dancer Kimmy Afro is officially returning to the music scene with a renewed sense of purpose, identity and creativity.
Based in Germany, Kimmy Afro says music has always been an essential part of who she is, and her decision to return is largely driven by her desire to keep her creative journey alive.
“Just as before, music has always been a part of me,” she says. “The main reason I have decided to return to music is primarily to keep my path in creativity alive.”

A New Sound, A New Identity
Kimmy Afro is set to release a new song in September, marking the beginning of what she describes as a fresh chapter in her career.
According to the artiste, the comeback will reveal a new sound and showcase the real identity of Kimmy Afro. She describes the project as a carefully curated blend of classics and innovative branding, promising fans something fresh while remaining connected to the artistic qualities that define her.
Although she has been away from the music scene for some time, Kimmy Afro says she never considered leaving music permanently.
“I always knew I would be back,” she explains. “What mostly kept my belief alive was my inner intuition, deeply rooted in pushing through, though others may have believed otherwise due to circumstances that arose.”
Germany, Ghana and the Journey of Creativity

Living in Germany has also played a significant role in shaping Kimmy Afro’s artistic identity. She describes the experience as one that gave her the emotional insight and balance needed to reignite her creativity.
“The road was tough, not rosy,” she says, adding that the German spirit of resisting destruction and rebuilding what is believed to be destroyed has become a fundamental part of her artistic identity.
While she has roots in Ghana and currently lives in Germany, Kimmy Afro believes music ultimately transcends borders.
“Music connects all,” she says. “Others may like it, others may not. Everyone has preferences, but to me, I feel my music has a little something for everyone.”

More Than Music
Kimmy Afro’s creative talents extend beyond music. She is also an accomplished dancer who has a strong connection to performing arts.
She says dance remains an important part of her creative expression, with projects incorporating dance and performance already in the works.
“I do enjoy dance and performing arts,” she reveals. “There are incorporated projects to also spark public interest coming soon.”
And when she’s not creating music or dancing, Kimmy Afro is equally comfortable in the kitchen. Cooking is another passion she enjoys, particularly because it gives her an opportunity to bring happiness to others.
Her most confident dish? Ghana’s beloved waakye.
“My most confident dish is waakye,” she says with a laugh. “Generally speaking, I enjoy cooking and bringing joy to others through satisfaction.”
Embracing the Spotlight.

As a female artiste admired by fans both locally and internationally, Kimmy Afro understands that visibility comes with expectations. Her approach, however, is to remain focused on what matters most while continuing to motivate herself and interact with those around her.
“Most important to me is being the best version of me people can truly look up to,” she says.
That mindset appears to be at the heart of her new chapter: personal growth, self-belief and authenticity.
Open to Collaborations
With her return to music, Kimmy Afro is also open to collaborations with artistes from Ghana, Germany and beyond.
Rather than limiting herself to particular names or genres, she says she would be happy to work with artistes of all levels, provided there is a strong creative connection.
“All artistes have great sounds and unique taste. It would be a pleasure to work with every single one, small or big,” she says.
For Kimmy Afro, the most important ingredient in a collaboration is the sound and creative input that both artistes bring to the process.
“I’m not picky,” she explains. “What matters is sound and input into the creative process we are in to produce magic for our listeners.”

A Different Kimmy Afro
Reflecting on her time away from music, particularly while balancing school, life and creativity in Germany, Kimmy Afro says she has learned the importance of investing in herself.
Her philosophy going forward is simple: build yourself, take control and love yourself unconditionally.
“What I’ve learned is to always invest in myself no matter how little and to always take control. Build myself and love myself unconditionally,” she says.

“I LIKE MONEY BECAUSE”
Kimmy Afro’s upcoming September release is aimed particularly at hustlers, especially women who continue to demonstrate strength and resilience in a world she describes as being largely shaped by men.
She says the song is for women who believe in placing their value and power first while continuously developing themselves.
The title of the song is “I LIKE MONEY ” a playful yet relatable statement built around something almost everyone can identify with.
“We all like money,” Kimmy Afro says.
With her return, Kimmy Afro is not simply releasing another song. She is introducing a renewed version of herself  one shaped by education, life experiences, resilience, creativity and an unwavering belief in her artistic journey.
