Kobie Rymz and Ed Eddie Turn Shared Life Experiences Into Music With New Project, US-based musician Kobie Rymz and Ghanaian artiste Ed Eddie are combining family ties, personal experiences and a shared passion for music as they prepare to release a seven-song joint EP.
The cousins’ musical journey began with a simple conversation over the phone. While discussing their individual experiences and the challenges they had faced in life, they discovered that their stories had several similarities. That conversation eventually inspired them to put those experiences into a song.
According to the duo, the first record turned out so well that it encouraged them to create more music together.

For Kobie Rymz, living in New York has played a major role in shaping his artistic identity. The city’s diverse cultures, stories and energy have exposed him to different influences, helping make his sound more diverse while pushing him to write lyrics that reflect real-life experiences.For Ed Eddie, the project also represents a new chapter in his career. Despite having worked with some notable Ghanaian artistes, he believes his solo career has not progressed as quickly as expected. However, he remains optimistic, saying he believes in the importance of timing and seasons and feels that the right time for him is now.
Despite the geographical distance between them, with Kobie in the United States and Ed Eddie based in Ghana the duo says technology has made collaboration much easier. They can record while on video calls, allowing them to work together despite being thousands of miles apart.
Their family relationship has also helped them navigate the creative process. While disagreements are inevitable, the cousins say they focus on listening to each other, discussing their ideas and choosing what ultimately makes the music better rather than trying to prove who is right.
When asked whether they intend to continue as a music duo after the EP, the pair remained tight-lipped, only revealing that “there’s a lot coming.”
Outside music, both artistes have their own lives, interests and experiences, which they say continue to influence their creativity.
